Our Mission

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a Catholic lay organization inspired by Gospel values to grow in holiness through person-to-person service to our neighbors in need. Guided by the example of our founder, Blessed Frédéric Ozanam, and our patron, St. Vincent de Paul, we serve with compassion, dignity, and respect.

We believe every person deserves to be treated with kindness and without judgment. Regardless of religion, race, age, gender, or background, we offer practical assistance, friendship, and hope to those facing hardship.

Our ministry begins with personal connection. Through home visits, our Vincentians listen, understand each individual's unique circumstances, and work alongside them to provide both immediate relief and lasting support.

How We Serve

Every day, our volunteers respond to the needs of individuals and families throughout the Trenton Diocese by providing:

Home visits
Emergency financial assistance
Food pantry support
Thrift stores
Referrals to community resources
Advocacy and case management
Spiritual support and compassionate companionship
Disaster relief

No work of charity is foreign to the Society. We seek out those who are struggling, offering hope through service and human connection.

Our Local Impact

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Trenton Diocesan Council includes 5 District Councils, 45 parish conferences, one Special Works Conference, and more than 1,500 Vincentians, associates, and volunteers working together to serve communities throughout the Diocese.

In 2025, our volunteers:

Contributed 264,152 volunteer hours
Assisted 40,550 individuals through home visits
Provided more than $2.8 million in financial assistance
Visited 14,000 people in care facilities
